Intro A (Beginning Horsemanship)
This class is for beginners who have never ridden before or those students coming from other programs where extensive horsemanship is not taught. Students will learn to safely work around horses, understand the way horses communicate (and communicate back with them), and they will learn to ride at a walk and trot independently - inside and out of the arena. Each student will be responsible for solely caring for his/her assigned horse - including health care, tacking, feeding, etc. Students will acquire emotional and physical self control, confidence, and problem solving skills.
Intro B (Advanced Beginner Horsemanship)
This class is designed for students who have completed Intro A - or who have previous riding experience. Students will expand on the skills acquired in Intro A - communication, body/emotional control, and balance. Emphasis is placed on the partnership between horse and rider - learning to work together. Students in Intro B will develop a stronger sense of empathy, but also increased clarity in communication and assertiveness. They will gain attention to detail, accuracy, and determination as they develop the balance and control to master an Intro B Dressage Test at the end of the year.
Maddie and Faith learning shoulder-in.
Intro C - Intermediate 2 Horsemanship
This class is designed for students who are serious about expanding their horsemanship knowledge and riding skills. Students entering into Intro C must have instructor approval and show scores of 58% or above at Intro B graduation (not schooling shows). Participants in this class will begin to develop a partnership with various horses and will learn to feel the balance, stiffness and resistance in the horses. Students at this level will start showing quick responses to the horse’s needs while still maintaining their balance and control.
Daytime lesson programs are designed to provide the best learning experience for students with flexibility and affordability for parents. Students in all KVA offerings will learn responsibility, develop confidence and independence. Our homeschooling families will also benefit from detailed curriculum and specific objectives for portfolio documentation.

Because KVA runs like a European Riding Academy, we can not accept new students after September without a skill evaluation and possible private lessons to “catch up” to the group. If you are interested in openings after the school year has started, please contact us with the link below:
