Looking for an experience your children or grandchildren will cherish for years to come? Horseback riding camp at King’s View Acres in Carlisle, PA, is just what you’ve been searching for! At King’s View Acres, we don’t just teach children to ride—we help them develop character, problem-solving skills, and valuable life lessons.

Camp Details:

  • Beginner Camps: Open to students aged 6 through 16, no prior experience needed.

  • Advanced Camps: Exclusively for current or former KVA students who have completed a full 9-month lesson program.

Beginner Horsemanship Camp

Open to all ages and experience levels, but designed for beginners. 

Beginner Horsemanship Camp is open to riders of all levels who have not yet attended a KVA class. Our experienced instructors will meet students at their skill levels, focusing on horsemanship skills such as leading and handling horses, grooming, proper tacking, health care, and nutrition. Riding skills, including the proper use of seat, leg aids, reins, balance, and coordination, will also be addressed. Participants will learn about horse anatomy, coat colors, and more while enjoying fun activities like games and horse-themed crafts. Students are required to wear long pants and shoes with a small heel and should bring a water bottle and a packed lunch.

If your child would like to stay all day until 5:00 pm, we offer a Full Day Add-On: $140.00 ea/camp

KVA Student Camps

For students who have completed a full year of programs at King’s View Acres—or with special permission from KVA instructors.

Our KVA Student Camps are designed for an interactive and imaginative week of horsemanship, riding, and learning. These “special topic” camps are open to students who have completed a full year of programs at King’s View Acres, or those who have received special permission from KVA instructors. Students who have not attended a full winter program at KVA must schedule an evaluation ride before registering. Participants will be required to wear long pants, shoes with a small heel, and bring a water bottle, a packed lunch, and a helmet. Students are welcome to register for one or multiple special topic camps to further develop their skills and enjoy a unique equestrian experience.

“I Love Horses - A Lot!”

Week of June 16-19, 2025 // 8:30 am-5:00 pm // $440.00

This camp is perfect for students who aren’t focused on competition but want to deepen their understanding of horse language and behavior. Campers will explore rope halter training, horse personalities, bodywork techniques (such as massage and chiropractic), and riding. Each day, students will make horse treats, prepare special meals for the horses, or find other creative ways to show their love and appreciation for these amazing animals.


“Emergency! Call the Vet!”

Week of July 14-17, 2025 // 8:30 am-5:00 pm // $440.00

Students interested in the health and care aspects of horsemanship will love this camp, which emphasizes preventing and addressing health issues in horses. Participants will handle the daily needs of the horses, including riding and exercise, while learning about injuries, illnesses, and routine care. On the final day, students will put their knowledge to the test with a simulated emergency scenario.

“Horse Show 101”

Week of August 11-14, 2025 // 8:30 am-5:00 pm // $440.00

This role-playing camp gives students the opportunity to experience different aspects of horse showing, including show management, grooming, training, and riding. Students will be grouped into imaginary barns and compete in various competitions based on their skill levels. The camp culminates with an imaginary horse show on the final day.
